Obituary – Colonel Marcelo Gladio da Costa Studart

1932 – 2021

Colonel Marcelo Gladio da Costa Studart passed away, on May 24, 2021, at the age of 89 years. Born on February 4, 1932, in Fortaleza, he was Colonel Aviator of the Brazilian Air Force. He entered the Military College of Rio de Janeiro in 1946 and, in 1951, went to the Preparatory School, in Barbacena/MG.

In 1953, he started the School of Aeronautics (class of 1955). He was Aeronautical Attaché in Peru and completed the Officer Improvement Course in 1968, the Air Force Staff Course in 1972 and the Higher Command Course at the Aeronautics Command and Staff School in Aeronautics in 1981.

In philately, Colonel Studart was a award-winning exhibitor: nationally and internationally. Specialized in Empire stamps, he was the author of the book “Historical Catalog of Stamps of the Empire 1843-1889”. He was President of Brazilian Federation of Philately – FEBRAF from 2005 to 2013.
